Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Finance BitBox application for macOS (the “App”). By installing or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. The service

Finance BitBox is a personal finance tool. It provides features such as: local sign-in and profile; a portfolio dashboard (including balance views, optional market-style price information, charts, budget progress, spending summaries, and recent activity); asset tracking (for example crypto, bank-style accounts, and custom entries); income and expense transactions with search and filters; categories; monthly reports; recurring payments; financial calculators; and settings (display currency, optional live price refresh, export, data reset, and account actions). Exact availability may depend on the version you install.

The App is designed to store your core data on your Mac (including local files such as JSON as part of normal operation). Optional features may use the internet (for example, to retrieve public cryptocurrency prices or to perform technical version checks). Those features are subject to network availability and third-party behavior.

2. Not financial, legal, or tax advice

The App is provided for informational and organizational purposes only. Nothing in the App is investment, legal, tax, or accounting advice. You alone are responsible for decisions you make based on information you enter or see in the App. Past performance of any asset does not guarantee future results.

3. Eligibility and acceptable use

You agree to use the App only in compliance with applicable laws and these Terms. You must not:

use the App to violate any law or third-party rights;
attempt to reverse engineer, tamper with, or circumvent security of the App except where applicable law expressly permits;
use the App in any way that could damage, disable, or overload any network or service.

4. Your data and responsibility

You are responsible for the accuracy of amounts, categories, and other entries you create. You are responsible for backups and for any CSV or other files you export. If you enable optional online features, you understand that third-party endpoints may apply their own terms and limitations.

5. Third-party services

The App may rely on third-party services (for example, providers of market data such as Binance public endpoints, or technical checks involving networks such as Polygon). Those services are not controlled by us; their availability, accuracy, and policies are determined by their operators. If you do not agree with their practices, disable optional features where the App allows it.

6. License

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for your personal, non-commercial purposes (unless another agreement explicitly allows commercial use).

7. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of harmful components. Market data and conversion outputs may be delayed, incomplete, or incorrect.

8. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL WE OR OUR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APP, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE APP OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (US $50), IF YOU PAID NOTHING, THEN ZERO.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in that case, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted.

9. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify us against any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the App, your data, or your violation of these Terms, except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct.

10. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time and delete its data using in-app controls or by removing the App from your Mac. We may stop supporting or distributing the App. Provisions that by their nature should survive (disclaimers, limitations, indemnity) will survive termination.

11. Changes

We may modify these Terms by posting an updated version and changing the “Last updated” date. If you continue to use the App after changes, you accept the updated Terms. If you disagree, stop using the App.

12. Governing law

Unless mandatory local law requires otherwise, these Terms are governed by the laws applicable at the place of publication of this App, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in that jurisdiction may have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, unless consumer protections in your country give you non-waivable rights.
